Your first thought might be, "How can this single pickup instrument sound so big and be so versatile with such a simple layout !!!" Tom's PQ2 is hum cancelling and offers not only the singing solo tone but when switched to parallel mode(push/pull pot on tone control) she becomes an amazing "Esquire" with great bite and plenty of attitude. This Anderson Bulldog Pup is reading off the same page but with a little extra under the hood.

Of course they didn't tell me but whatever gave Tom the idea to go in this tonal/build direction, he certainly succeeded. So much so i had to call Anderson and try to find out what they used as a template for the Pup. I certainly expected the Anderson to hold it's own but was absolutely floored at how close it sounded to the original '50's version.

When his special order arrived he brought the original in to compare the two. The first special order for one of these went to a friend who has an original "Junior". If you've ever heard a great sounding vintage "Junior", you know what a sweet tone they have, real creamy but with the right amount of attack to cut through.
